Tal El Jinan II Liberated Agricultural Land
The agricultural sector is one of the most vital sectors in Gaza Strip. This sector contributes to the provision of food to Palestinians and absorbs large part of the workers. It is considered also a part of the open war with the Israeli occupation. The National Association of Moderation & Development exerts great efforts to achieve self-sufficiency through the direct sponsorship of the food security projects in the plants and livestock sectors. This is in a trial to overcome the siege imposed on Gaza Strip. The association contributes to addressing the phenomenon of poverty and linking relief and development. The association has rented 200 acres in Tal El Jinan II land that includes 102 greenhouses. During one year, the association has reclaimed the land, re-extended irrigation networks to the greenhouses, and covered the greenhouses with nylon. There are more than 70 workers in Tal El Jinan II land.
Projects & Ambition
The chairman of board Muneer El Bursh said that the food security projects include cultivating large liberated lands with palm, olive trees, and fruit. The chairman denoted that the association has achieved self-sufficiency in some crops like onions, melons, potatoes, and other crops. He adds, the productive agricultural and livestock projects are evolving day after day. The chairman appreciated the attempts to achieve food security to confront the Israeli occupation and to provide the local market with the needed plants and animals production. Moreover, the chairman confirmed that the current food security projects are good initiatives and their effects will be noticed in later periods. At the current stage, they cover very limited portions of the market requirements. The chairman adds that the Israeli occupation hinders achieving the desired goals of the projects by blocking the needed materials for expanding those projects whether infrastructural projects, developmental or operational requirements.
Tal El Jinan II Projects
The chairman said that there are many productive departments in Tal El Jinan II land that complement the agricultural sector. There is the project of planting the greenhouses with different vegetables. Furthermore, the association maintained the quality of the products to be free from chemicals. There is the project of fattening the livestock that contributes to covering the Palestinians needs of meet. Moreover, there is the project of laying hens farms, as it contributes to the promotion of food security. The waste of hens is used as fertilizer for the land. Moreover, there is the project of beekeeping that use the bees in pollination and obtaining honey. There is a project of constructing tree nursery in which the seeds of the land as a whole are prepared. There are engineers that perform agricultural experiments to increase the productivity. Also, there is the project of planting perennial trees in the vicinity of the land like citrus, palm, guava, and olive trees. Finally, there is the project of constructing palm nursery that has about 800 seeds.
It is worth mentioning that the association is a charitable association that oversees many of the programs and projects of relief and development. The association tries to enhance the steadfastness of the Palestinians, contribute to poverty alleviation, and tries to adopt a model to embrace and develop the vital sectors on the basis of partnership and development.
